gluten free / paleo

If you love chocolate (who doesn't) and you love banana (who doesn't) and you are in search of a recipe with these ingredients and no refined sugars, then look no further, my friends, I GOTCHU! I started playing around with different recipes floating around the internet and came up with my own combo that I'm sure will be a crowd pleaser! Give them a try and let me know what you think!


Makes 12 bars


4 super ripe bananas (the ones with the black spots and that you almost want to toss out!)

2 flax eggs (mix 2 tb ground flax meal in 5 tb water in a small bowl and let sit for 5 min)

1.5 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup almond flour (I really like Bob's Red Mill because they have a super fine option, but any almond flour will work, even the one from Trader Joe's!)

1/3 cup coconut flour

1/3 cup cacao powder (I love Navitas Naturals cacao powder)

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 cup chopped dark chocolate (I used Enjoy Life mega chunks)



Preheat oven to 350. Spray 8x8 baking pan with non-stick spray. Make your flax eggs and set aside for 5 minutes. Then, in a high speed blender (I'm obsessed with my Vitamix), blend the bananas, vanilla, and flax eggs until the batter is smooth. In another bowl, combine all dry ingredients except for the chopped chocolate. Add the wet mixture to the dry and mix well. Then fold in 1/2 the chocolate, reserving the other half. Pour the batter in the baking pan and pour the rest of the chocolate on top. Bake for 20 to 22 minutes.
